Detox Day 14: Dumb Things You Shouldn't Do...

Tuesday was a long day. I woke up at 3.45am only to lie awake until my alarm rang at 5am. My body must have thought I get too much sleep and just kept me awake. So, I was dragging for most of the day and naturally my appetite was through the roof again. I counteracted it with a big breakfast of 4 eggs and 2 slices bread but it just didn't do the trick. I was busy running errands and getting last minute things ready for the DVD launch party, so there was really no time for even a power nap. I caved in on the peanut butter while feeding my pup a peanut butter snack. I decided to feed myself a snack - peanut butter on a slice of bread. My stomach was not happy. All tied up in knots... Lesson learned: Watch out for your food sensitivities. Trying to get to bed at a decent hour tonight will hopefully do the trick.

Food Diary:
Breakfast: 4 eggs with 2 slices whole grain bread, 2 coffees with almond milk
Snack: Protein Shake - almond milk, avocado and bluebonnet vanilla whey
Lunch: Maryland Crab Soup
Snack: Slice of bread with peanut butter (get this... I was feeding my dog peanut butter and I caved in. Really bad move because my stomach was so in knots from eating peanut butter that teaching class tonight was not much fun).
Dinner: Protein Shake, bell peppers and celery

Exercise: 1 hour Indoor Boot Camp, 75 Minutes Slim & Strong Spin
Supplements: Vitamin C, Adrenal Support, Metabolic Support, Mushroom Blend

Here's a common question I get during Detox and Slim & Strong:

'Ariane, I’ve been doing really well on the Detox.  My clothes are fitting much looser, the puffiness in my face is gone....
I am stuck at 120 lbs and can't seem to make that change.   Any suggestions? Thanks, J.

Hi J.,

Being stuck is normal. At first you lose a lot of water, which makes you think you lost a lot of weight. However, water weight loss fluctuates. After about 2-3 days you start losing fat and sometimes regain some muscle if you were protein deficient before. So, the weight will show a quick drop of weight in the first few days (water lost), then will stay stagnant for a bit (the body regains some water and loses fat) and then drop again (water levels stable and fat loss continues), so that’s why you can expect fluctuations in your weight. They’re normal and expected and people typically don’t lose weight day after day and week after week. The body does it in stages. Hormones, heat, food, sleep all affect fat loss, so be patient.
Only body fat measurements can tell if you're stuck or not. The weight loss might not be showing on the scale but that’s why you want to rely on your clothes. Everything else you describe sounds like progress to me. We'll see next week when we do your ‘after’ measurements! - Ariane
