Detox Day 17: TGIF!

One of my goals for 2012 is to learn to dive. I've been admiring people who go on diving vacations and get to enjoy the amazing underwater world since I was a little girl. I'm actually making it happen this year and Friday I had my first class. Who knew that it's quite a serious endeavor and you need to know your stuff well before you get to hit the water. I met my teacher at his dive shop and learned how to set up my diving gear and various important things to consider about breathing under water. I'm excited to hit the pool on Sunday for my first pool dive. I'll have to take 4 open water dives in the next 6 months, so I see a vacation to a hot spot coming up down the road.

Between taking the class, dealing with a sick puppy and getting loads of paperwork done I forgot to think about food planning. I had picked up a delicious lunch at a cute coffee shop called Paradis in Union Square and enjoyed it very much. They have truly delicious sandwiches, soups and prepared foods. I had the Salmon with green beens, roasted butternut squash and brussels sprouts - it was clean, yet the seasoning made the meal delicious and almost buttery tasting. Unfortunately the sick puppy kept me from enjoying a friend's birthday party dinner, which would surely have tempted me to have a glass of wine (and, of course, I would have declined). Instead I took the time to organize my office, which was overloaded with goodie bags and protein bars and various other things. The impact of an organized environment is always immediate. I'm better able to focus and concentrate. If you ever feel difficulty concentrating at your desk, I suggest you take a few minutes to set it up so you can function efficiently. It makes your work flow easier and helps you redirect your energy on work, rather than on thinking about how unorganized your environment is.  If you need a few tips to get more energy and focus, check this out:

We have 4 more days of Detox until we do the final measurements. I haven't weighed myself since the first week, after which I lost 4 lbs but my jeans are looser. That's really all I need to know about progress - how my clothes fit. What the scale says is always a different issue and you know my take on it by now.

Several months ago we signed up as a team to climb 55 flights of stairs to the top of One Penn Plaza and tomorrow is the event. I'm excited as we have rocked as the winning teams in past events. Stay tuned for the details. Enjoy your weekend!
