Every meal, every workout, every action we take to improve ourselves will eventually add up to getting you to your goal. Just for today, ask yourself with everything you do, whether it is helping your progress or steering you in the opposite direction.
While on vacation I read a book that got me thinking quite a bit. "The Happiness Project" by Gretchen Rubin is the story about a woman who decides to change her life without leaving her real life. Instead, she focuses on addressing one thing in her life with every month. Her home organization, her relationships with her kids, with her husband, with friends, her work, etc.
One of her commandments was: "Be Gretchen"
This simple statement rings more true to me now than ever before. I realize that what we do must be something that helps us keep true to ourselves or else we are living a lie. We need to pursue the things we WANT to do rather than the goals we think we SHOULD be doing and so I frequently ask myself now: Is this something I really WANT to do or is it something I feel I SHOULD do?
I printed out the below and it hangs right over my desk as a reminder to stay true to myself. I hope you do too.
